Khairpur without DPO
Only three days before the advent of the holy month, District Police Officer Javed Jiskani left his charge following his transfer. However, at least three officers who were asked to take charge of the DPO have shown reluctance because of the sensitivity of the district and a short time available for the preparation of a comprehensive security plan for the Yaum-e-Ashur, police sources told The News.
The sources said the reluctance shown by three police officers, Fareed Jan Sarhandi, Rukhsar Khuhawar and Zulfiqar Junejo, is because they think Khairpur has been declared “very sensitive district in Muharram” and it will be difficult for them to take full stock of the situation and prepare a fool-proof security plan for the Yaum-e-Ashur.
At present, the sources said, the charge of the DPO is with the SP investigation.
