Karo-Kari claims three lives

KHAIRPUR: A fifty-year-old woman and a 22-year-old man were killed over Karo-Kari near here on Thursday. According to reports reaching here from the Faiz Muhammad Bhido police station near Khairpur, Muhammad Khan Narejo and Aitbar Narejo shot dead their sister Razia, wife of Mubarak Narejo, in the village of Jamal Narejo while she was going to a local hospital for medicine, as she was sick. The killers alleged that she was a Kari. Immediately after killing her, the accused shot dead Deedar Husain Narejo, declaring him as Karo.

The culprits managed to escape after the incident.Police shifted the bodies to a hospital for autopsies and started investigations. Area people told police that they did not believe the allegation of Karo-Kari was correct. They revealed that the culprits had killed their sister for usurping her property. Our Sukkur correspondent adds: A woman was killed over Karo-Kari in Daharki on Thursday.Reports said in the village of Mohammad Bukhsh Mazari near Daharki, Munawwar Mazari attacked his cousin Sajawal Bibi and her alleged paramour Dildar Mazari with a hatchet. As a result, Sajawal Bibi, 18, died on the spot. Dildar escaped unhurt, while the assailant also fled. The reason for the murder was said to be Karo-Kari. Police have registered a case against Munawwar and are conducting raids to arrest him.
