Karo-Kari claims another three lives in interior Sindh

SUKKUR:January 10,2005 : Two people, including a woman, were killed on the pretext of Karo-Kari at village Rozi Shar near Thull on Sunday.

Mumtaz Ali, 22, was axed to death by unknown armed men, who later barged into the house of one Babul Shar and strangulated his wife Sharifan, 30, and fled.

Ali Murad Shar, father of the deceased women, registered an FIR with Mirpur Buriro police station against four accused-Ayub Shar, Abdul Majeed, Eisoo and Dawood Shar. But no one was arrested till our going to press. The cause of the killing is stated to Karo-Kari.

Meanwhile, a married woman was shot dead by her husband on the pretext of Karo-Kari at village Keenjhar Pitafi in Ghotki district on Sunday.

Abdul Haleem Boohar suspected that his wife Mukhtiaran had illicit relations with one Ghulam Muhammad Shar. On Sunday, he shot her dead and fled.

Abdul Karim Boohar, father of the deceased woman, registered an FIR against Abdul Haleem. Police are conducting raids to arrest the accused.

Meanwhile, nine people were injured when a passenger wagon collided head-on with a tractor-trolley at Mirzan Pur bus stop in Shikarpur district late on Saturday.

The passenger wagon was on its way from Sukkur when it bumped into a tractor-trolley at Mirzan Pur bus stop, injuring nine people. The injured were rushed to Taluka hospital Madaiji. Later, four of the injured-Amanullah Lashari, Maula Bukhsh Gilal, Manthar Chandio and Altaf Soomro-were referred to the Larkana hospital due to their precarious condition. Gahija police took the injured tractor driver Ali Gohar Mirbahar into custody.
