Karachi to be made regional hub of IT for Gulf, C Asia

KARACHI- Sindh Finance Minister Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh has said that provincial government is pursuing a comprehensive Information Technology policy, which is aimed at making Karachi, which is rich in human resources, a regional hub of IT for the Gulf region and Central Asia.

Speaking as chief guest at the ICMAP convocation here on Saturday evening he said that the Sindh IT Board is introducing computer education on a wide scale to make the province an IT power house.

Lauding the ICMAP for imparting right type of education, he said that in the last 53 years only those countries which invested in people have progressed while the others lagged behind.

Referring to the financial crisis being faced by the country, he said that economic problems have been inherited by the present government and efforts are underway to create a financial discipline and revive the economy but the mess created in over 50 years could not be cleared in a couple of years.

Earlier, he gave away degrees to the successful students. Mansoor won the Gold medal for his outstanding performance
