KARACHI: Rape of 5 minor girls reported at CHK

KARACHI, September 06 2005: Five cases of rape of minor girls have been reported in the Civil Hospital alone in less than a month.

The girls were brought to the hospital where it was established that all of them were subjected to rape. During the past one month, the first case was reported on Aug 7, when an eight-year-old girl was taken there from Saeedabad. On Aug 25, a five-year-old girl was taken to the Civil Hospital for medical examination.

Two girls, one 11, and the other four-year-old, were brought to the Civil Hospital from Malir City and North Nazimabad, respectively. A three-year-old girl was taken to the hospital on Sept 3 from the Artillery Maidan police limits. The mother of the girl is a maid in the house of a senior police officer but she had to face difficulty in reporting the case to the police. The incident took place on Sept 1, but the girl was taken to the hospital two days after the incident.

The mother had destroyed the evidence as the girl took a shower before medical examination and her clothes were washed by her mother, which the girl had worn at the time of the incident.

However, the girl’s medical report (No 111/05) stated that the hymen of the girl was torn and her private parts were carrying bruises. The girl felt much pain at the time of the examination. The police stations concerned were contacted in the evening but the officials declined to give details about the progress in investigation.
