KARACHI (APP) – Nazim Karachi, Syed Mustafa Kamal has reiterated the demand for transfer of police department under City Government to eliminate crimes and control traffic problems.

“The way the present city government got its mettle recognised by showing outstanding performance in various fields, similarly it would like to provide relief to people by providing them security, eliminating crimes, meeting law and order problems and traffic jamming problems in Karachi”.

He made these assertions in this regard while chairing a meeting regarding traffic problems and their solution, transport improvement and speedy action against encroachments.

Nazim Karachi pointed out that Haq Parast leadership solved the pending problems of 58 years in two years and the measures taken by it provided much relief to people.

However, he said, a lot of work remains to be done, which includes transport problems. He said the city government wants to solve the problem of traffic jams on permanent basis but its viewpoint is not being given due consideration as a result of which the people generally hold city government responsible for it.

“Until the traffic police come under the control of city government, it is not responsible for traffic jams”, he said in clear term. He said that when traffic jams assume serious shape during Ramazan-ul-Mubarak, the city government is asked to control it and then CDGK volunteers gives the best performance. But, when we talk about giving traffic police under city government, then there is silence.

Similarly, Mustafa Kamal said the city government removes encroachments but police personnel provides backing to encroachers and create problems for us.

Nazim Karachi said the city government has completed 90 percent of development works and for the first time in the city’s history, all under ground utility services have been shifted to roadsides and their protection arrangements made.

He said Corridor-II project will be completed by the end of February and opened for people which will facilitate the people in their travelling. Mustafa Kamal said that a large number of projects have been incorporated in the Master Plan for Karachi’s reconstruction and development and their implementation will usher the city into a new era of progress.
