KARACHI 10 years back: Officials barred from divulging information to media

KARACHI: The Sindh government has directed its officials not to divulge any information or government policy to the press and electronic media.

Government sources told The News on Saturday that from now onwards the officials would not be allowed to meet any reporters. The notification has been circulated to all the heads of the departments, particularly the Sindh Home Department.

Condemning the latest directives of not allowing access to information, political analysts believed that Adviser to the Prime Minister on Sindh Affaris Ghous Ali Shah wanted to conceal all the facts keeping in view the political situation of Karachi, where the MQM has launched a campaign against the government.

According to sources, restrictions are also being made with regard to holding any press briefing without the prior permission of the higher authorities.

It is worth mentioning that Ghous has not held any meeting with the secretaries to apprise himself of the government functioning.
