Kaleem Omar remembered

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s English language poet of eminence and renowned journalist Kaleem Omar was remembered on his death anniversary on Monday. Omar was born in Lucknow in 1937.

He was a prominent poet of the English language and played a significant role in promoting the culture of this region in his poems, a private news channel reported. From 1983 to 1988, he wrote for The Star Weekend while he got associated with The News in 1989 and remained connected to the newspaper for the next two decades.

Apart from his journalism, Kaleem Omar was also recognised as one of the finest poets writing in the English language in the country having published his collection `Wordfall’ in 1975. Kaleem Omar died of heart failure on June 25, 2009 in Karachi.
