Journalists visit disaster-hit Badin district
HYDERABAD: A group of journalists visited the areas of Badin district that were affected in the previous monsoon rains and flood, listening to community voices calling for an efficient contingency plan in order to avoid yet another disaster in the upcoming monsoon season.
Journalists were taken to these areas by the Participatory Development Initiatives and People’s Accountability Commission. These journalists met the flood-affected people, collecting personal stories and community voices.
“The Monsoon season is due to start in May and already we are not even done facing what the last disaster gave us. We are still striving hard to make a decent living,” a victim of the affected areas, said.
Some 46 union councils were badly hit by rain and 1,021,301 people were affected in the Badin district according to official figures.
