Journalists threaten self-immolation
SUKKUR: Journalists in Badah have threatened self-immolation if the murderers of senior journalist Shan Dahar are not arrested soon. The journalists protested outside Badah Press Club on Monday and were led by its general secretary Iqbal Channa. The protesters strongly condemned the murder and termed it as an attempt to suppress the media.
The Karachi Union of Journalists (KUJ) announced to give a flat in Journalist Society to Dahar’s family, while the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) has given Rs100,000 and health insurance to his family. A protest was held in Larkana’s Jinnah Bagh on January 5 under the aegis of PFUJ. Since KUJ president GM Jamali was not present at the event, PFUJ general secretary Ameen Yousuf announced the donations. Yousuf also assured the family of PFUJ’s support and cooperation.
