Journalists stage sit-in to protest Saleem’s killing

ISLAMABAD: Addressing a sit-in by the journalists in front of the Parliament House, Pakistan Muslim League N leader Mian Nawaz Sharif termed the Saleem Ahehza’s killing the whole nation’s murder and demanded the authorities that the perpetrators be exposed and brought to the book.

The journalistic cadre Wednesday staged a sit-in to protest the horrendous killing of Shehzad who was abducted on 27th and found dead on 31st May 2011. Sharif asked who were such a powerful people above all the laws in the country. The protestors demanded an independent inquiry commission under the supervision of a sitting judge of the Supreme Court. They resolved to keep protesting until the perpetrators are exposed and brought to book for their despicable crimes. They appealed to Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Choudhry to take a suo moto notice of the incident.

A number of political figures, cashing in on the occasion, participated in the sit-in and assured their ostensible cooperation. Saleem Shahzad was abducted on 27th May, an FIR was registered in Margalla Police Station. On 31st May his car was found abandoned near Sarai Alamgir and later his dead body was recovered from Mandi Bahauddin.
