Journalists observe token boycott of Sindh PA

KARACHI Nov 14: Journalists covering the Sindh Assembly session Monday observed token boycott of assembly proceedings against ban on transmission of Sindh-language TV channel, Sindh TV, harassment of newsmen and dacoity at the residence of Secretary Karachi Press Club (KPC) Najeeb Ahmed.Newsmen gathered at the newsroom in the assembly building to lodge their protest against freedom of expression and ncidents aimed at restricting them from covering and reporting issues of public interest.

They warned the government that if did nothing to resolve issues facing journalists community and did not respond to remove their concerns, they would be compelled to completely boycott the assembly proceedings to press the government for resolving their problems.Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) MPA Younis Barai visited the newsroom to express solidarity with protesting journalists and assured them that opposition, especially MMA would raise the issues from the floor of the assembly and press government for solving them.Later, journalists resumed the professional responsibilities and started covering the assembly proceedings.
