Journalist`s murder: probe panel formed
ISLAMABAD: The government formed on Monday a commission headed by Federal Sharif Court Chief Justice Agha Muhammad Rafique to investigate the mysterious killing of journalist Syed Saleem Shahzad.
According to sources in the interior and information ministries, the mandate of the commission will be decided after the appointment of other members, including some journalists.
Interior Minister Rehman Malik was quoted by a private TV channel as saying: “We have formed a commission on the demand of the journalist community.”
The mysterious kidnapping and killing of well-known investigative reporter Saleem Shahzad on May 29 has raised serious questions about security.
He was picked up in broad daylight from a posh residential sector of Islamabad, taken to Mandi Bahauddin, some 150km southeast of the capital, and killed.
