Journalists condemn attack
HYDERABAD, Jan 4: A large number of journalists and activists of different organisations held a demonstration outside the press club here in protest against attack on the offices of the daily Awami Awaz allegedly by SNF activists, which was followed by Mumtaz Bhutto’s arrest.
Veteran politician Jam Saqi said that Mumtaz Bhutto had become so desperate that he was trying to scare the press into giving him some space in newspapers.
He praised the Sindhi press for what he called its revolutionary role in protecting Sindh’s interests.
Assistant editor of Awami Awaz, Iqbal Mallah, said it was not a democratic way to get an article published at gunpoint. Journalism could not be suppressed by landlords, he added. Journalists in Tando Mohammad Khan also held a demonstration.
