SUKKUR: A Samaa TV reporter, Iftikhar Arain, and his cameraman were beaten by staff at Civil Hospital, Shikarpur on Sunday. On Sunday evening, a woman, identified as Chasmi, was admitted in labour but there was no female doctor available. Her angry relatives started protesting outside the hospital.

Arain and his cameraman rushed to the hospital when they heard of this and the Shikarpur deputy commissioner, Dr Azhar, reached the hospital and directed that a doctor be called immediately. After Chasmi gave birth, Arain and his cameraman were beaten allegedly by the medical superintendent, who tried to snatch their camera, but Chasmi’s relatives, intervened.
