Journalist S.R. Ghauri passes away
KARACHI: Veteran journalist and former staffer of Dawn S.R Ghauri passed way in California on Sunday morning. He was in his late 80s.
He would be buried in California on Monday.
One of the outstanding journalists, Mr Ghauri after his retirement about two decades ago had migrated to the US.
He is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.
Born in Ajmer Sharif, India, and migrated to Karachi before partition, Mr Ghauri started his career as a staff reporter in Times of Karachi. He then went on to work for Dawn before becoming editor of Morning News and Herald. He also worked for The Guardian and BBC, and wrote for The Economist, Holland.
Quran Khwani will be held at the residence of Mr Ghauri’s sister at D-49 Block 4 Gulshan-i-Iqbal Karachi on March 25 between 4 and 7pm.
