KARACHI: Veteran journalist, writer and poet Nadir Shah Adil died on Saturday. He was 74.

He was born in Lyari in 1950. He was known as a good football player before he chose journalism as his profession and worked in major Urdu dailies and magazines. He was a member of the editorial board of Urdu daily Express.

One of the politest and courteous journalists, he was known as ‘Shah Jee’ in the media fraternity. He was highly respected among reporters as he was known for helping them in their journalistic pursuits.

He authored two books — Balochistan Ka Muqaddama and Lyari Ki Kahani — and wrote short stories and poems for children.

His Namaz-i-Janaza was held at Pankhawali Street in Jahanabad and he was laid to rest at the Mewa Shah graveyard.
