Journalist Murdered in Daska

KARACHI- The correspondent of an Urdu daily, Rana Mohammad Akram was killed while two others including a minor were seriously injured in a hand grenade attack on his office at Subedar Bazar.

It is learnt that an unidentified dacoit forced his entry into the office of Rana Mohammad Akram and tried to make the journalist hostage at gunpoint.

The journalist overpowered the dacoit. The dacoit all of a sudden threw a hand-grenade on the office killing the journalist, and injuring the shopkeeper Abdul Hamid and his 5-year old son Waqar.

The dacoit tried to throw another hand-grenade which exploded in his hands also killing the dacoit on the spot.

It may be mentioned that the journalist had set up his office in his jewellery shop and it is believed that the dacoit attacked to loot the jewellery.

Following this tragic incident, Daska police surrounded the area while all the shops were closed. The injured were admitted to Daska Civil Hospital.
