Journalist M.H. Riaz passes away

KARACHI, Feb 20: Senior journalist M.H. Riaz died in London last week. He was in his early 80s. He has left behind his wife, three daughters and a son.

Mr Riaz, who hailed from Raipur, India, was married to a daughter of the owner of “The Lateefi Press” of Delhi from where the daily Dawn started its publication before the partition of the subcontinent.

Mr Riaz began his career with government service in the Indian ministry of labour government in 1946. He quit the government job in the early 60s and joined journalism.

He worked on senior positions in the Morning News, Karachi, and the weekly Gulf Economist, before he was posted as APP correspondent in London in 1978. Later, he joined the Kashmir Centre in London as a director and remained associated with it for over a decade.
