JIT Summons Seven Individuals Over Malicious Social Media Campaign

A Joint Investigation Team (JIT) established under Section 30 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016 has summoned seven individuals accused of orchestrating a malicious social media campaign aimed at spreading fake news and inciting unrest.

The JIT, led by Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ali Nasir Rizvi, has issued notices to Sabghatullah Virk, Muhammad Arshad, Attaur Rehman, Azhar Mashwani, Komal Afridi, Uroosa Nadeem Shah, and M. Ali Malik. The suspects have been directed to appear for questioning on December 13.

Authorities stated that further investigations are underway, and additional suspects are expected to be identified. Officials said substantial evidence has been collected linking the accused to these activities.
