JI leader stopped from using ‘fake’ nikahnama

LAHORE: A Family Court judge has issued stay order against Jamat-e-Islami leader Ehsan Ullah Waqas and stopped him from using a Nikah Nama (marriage certificate) declaring a woman, Ismat Zuhra, as his wife. The court also summoned Ehsanullah Waqas for the next hearing on July 4. Ismat, the complainant, is a former headmistress of a high school owned by the JI leader.

She had alleged that Ehsanullah Waqas had prepared a fake Nikah Nama declaring her as his wife in order to prevent her from taking steps to reclaim her property which he had occupied. She said that she had already filed an application to reclaim her land occupied by the JI leader. She said she was leading a happy married life with her husband Abdul Samad and two children but the JI leader had tried to blackmail her to occupy her plot. She requested the court to declare the marriage certificate in possession of the accused as fake, null and void.
