Jhang rape victim, four family members booked for theft

JHANG: The City police registered a theft case against a rape victim and her family instead of registering a case against the influential rapist.

As per details, Nasir Ghaffar, a hotel owner and a resident of Millat Colony, tried to develop illicit relations with Rabia, daughter of a shoemaker. On his failure, he kidnapped the girl and raped her for several days.

However, she managed to escape from the custody of the accused. The rape victim with his father Muhammad Yousaf and mother Hajran Bibi reached the Jhang city police station to register the case.

However, Sub-Inspector Muhammad Khan refused to register the case against the rapist. Yousaf produced the victim in the court of Magistrate Kamran Rehan who ordered his medical examination.

Meanwhile on the application of accusedís brother Sabir Ghaffar, Sub-Inspector Muhammad Khan registered a theft case (246/12) against the rape victim Rabia, her mother Hajran Bibi, father Muhammad Yousaf, brother Tanveer and uncle Muhammad Sharif.

The sub-inspector not only registered a case, but also arrested the male family members of the victim. However, her mother with the magistrate orders reached DHQ Hospital. After the medical examination, the doctors confirmed that the girl had been raped. The victimís male members are still in the police custody and looking for justice.

Talking to journalists outside the DPO office, Hajran Bibi and the rape victim Rabia said that they were being threatened by the influential accused.

They said that they were waiting for their turn to meet the DPO to seek justice. When contacted, SI Muhammad Khan said that the theft case had been registered against the girl and her family on the order of the Jhang DPO. However, DPO Rao Abdul Karim could not be contacted despite repeated attempts.
