Jasarat Peshawar office raided

KARACHI- The administration of daily Jasarat Karachi on Wednesday slammed the alleged raid by police at its Peshawar bureau office and lifting the office luggage. In a press statement issued on Wednesday, a spokesman for the newspaper charged that on February 7, 2001, Peshawar police led by a Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) conducted a raid at Jasarat office.

Later police whisked away all necessary records, newspaper files, computers and printers. During the whole process the raiding party did not show any written permission to carry the operation.

A permanent police guard has been posted at the office since January 2001 and in this regard when police official were communicated to explain their position they always tried to pacify that aim of the move is to extend protection to the workers of the organization.
