Japanese journalist arrested

PESHAWAR- The Taliban authorities governing Kunar province of Afghanistan have arrested another journalist from Japan on the charges of illegally entering that area on Monday.

The reports reaching here in Peshawar reveal that Japanese journalist identified as Isamu Iida was arrested when he reached Kunar province of Afghanistan through tribal area. Mr. Isamu Iida, is free lance press photographer.

It was learnt that Mr. Isamu Iida was staying in a hotel at Peshawar Saddar and he left the hotel on last Monday at 8:30 a.m.

He was also accompanied by another Japanese nationals who mentioned “Engineering” as his profession in the hotel documents.

However, Engineer’s stay in Pakistan has been confirmed by his other colleagues.

The latest reports reveal that arrested Japanese journalist has been shifted to Jalalabad from Kunar. He is being interrogated by the intelligence wing of Taliban and is likely to be shifted to Kabul later on.
