Jacobabad police restrained from arresting couple

The Sindh High Court (SHC) has directed the Jacobabad police not to arrest a couple, facing death threats, till further orders.

The court was hearing a petition of Ms Rasheeda, who sought protection and quashment of a kidnapping case registered at Civil Line police station, Jacobabad, against her husband, Abdul Aziz.

The petitioner’s counsel, Behram Khan Ujjan, submitted that she married Abdul Aziz on her free will in March 2008, but her father registered a false FIR on the kidnapping of his daughter against Abdul Aziz and his family members.

He said that a local Jirga also declared the couple as Karo-Kari and sought protection and quashment of the kidnapping case against them.

The SHC’s division bench issued notice to advocate general Sindh and others for August 7 and in the meantime restrained the Jacobabad police from arresting the couple till further orders.
