Islamabad Press Club sealed

ISLAMABAD – Law enforcement agencies Sunday sealed Islamabad Press Club situated near Melody, close to Lal Masjid.

The security officials got the Press Club building vacated from the journalists covering the Lal Masjid and Jamia Hafsa operation.

However, ISPR Chief Maj General Arshad Waheed said that security forces had not sealed the Press Club building. “It had been done on the part of local administration,” he asserted.

Later, the media persons held a protest demonstration against the sealing of Press Club Building.

Rawalpindi/Islamabad Press Club President Mushtaq Minhas has strongly condemned the action and termed it an attack on press freedom.

He also said journalists had the right to perform their professional duties. “We would soon call a special session of the Press Club members to discuss the issue.”
