ISLAMABAD: CDA warns action against illegal cable operators

ISLAMABAD- The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Wednesday warned the illegal cable channel operators to get No Objection Certificates (NOC) from the authority otherwise action would be taken against them.

The CDA also asked the residents not to get connection from the illegal cable operators.

A fresh notice issued by the Authority on Wednesday to the cable operators stated that some cable operators in Islamabad were laying underground cables without having valid licence/NOC from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and without the prior permission from the CDA.

“Since sensitive cable networks of Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) and Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) are laid all over the city, unauthorised laying of cables by the operators can cause damage to these lines involving huge expenditure for their repair.”

“The authority once again directs all the cable operators to approach the CDA along with PTA licence/NOC to obtain the line alignment and permission for digging the road before laying cables,” the notice said.

“Anyone involved in laying cables without the prior permission from the CDA would be processed against relevant laws/regulations and the material would liable to be confiscated,” the notice warned.
