Internet —based portal on cards to facilitate SMEs
ISLAMABAD: Ministry of Information Technology is working on a project to develop a web-based Industrial Information Networks (IIN), aimed at providing information services and value-added support to small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
The portal ,costing Rs39.62 millions ,would bring SMEs in direct contract with investors and venture capitalists from the inflow over .Hence, increasing the this sector, sources at Ministry of IT said here on April 15.
The sources said Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (SMEDA)is an implementation agency for the project which is expected to be completed by December this year.
Citing the considerable GDP and textile sectors growth ,the sources said with the usage of IIN, the initial improvement achieved in GCP contribution would be additional 1 to 1.5 percent. Similarly ,for leather sector, an improvement of at least 0.5 percent to the existing 1 percent contribution to GDP is expected.
