Initial report denies rape of girl
MULTAN – Initial medical report of the unmarried victim of the Kabirwala case has belied the claim that she was raped.
The report says ‘Mz’ is still virgin and there are no torture marks on her body that suggest any violent act committed against her. However, the police want to have her detail examination from a gynaecologist.
When contacted, Khanewal DPO Dr Muhammad Jameel confirmed on May 8 the findings of the medical report. He said the lady doctor, who conducted the victim’s medical examination at the Nishter Hospital’s forensic department, had advised her detail examination from a gynaecologist but now her family and lawyers were not cooperating.
The DPO said the initial police investigation had revealed that media and the victim family’s lawyer had exaggerated the incident. He said no announcement was made on loudspeakers about the panchayat’s proceedings and accused Ghaffar was wrongly introduced as landlord.
He said both Ghaffar and Nawaz, the father of the victim, were the tenants of Malik Afzal Naich, who allegedly headed the panchayat. The police would thoroughly investigate the matter so that everything became crystal clear, he added.
It is to be recalled that Ghaffar had called a village jury few days ago, alleging that his neighbour Nawaz Mussali’s son Riaz had criminally assaulted his daughter ‘S’. When the jury was convened, Ghaffar reportedly pleaded a ‘befitting’ punishment for Riaz’s family for dishonouring him. The jury reportedly comprised Haji Sultan, Haji Najmal, Ahmad Nawaz and Malik Afzal Naich.
The jurors, however, said if Riaz’s sister ‘Mz’ would seek apology for her brother’s act the matter could be resolved amicably. However, when she along with her sister-in-law turned up to the panchayat, Ghaffar allegedly dragged them to a room and raped them. The jurors allegedly neither stopped him from doing so nor did they lodge a complaint with the police against the incident.
The police, however, took note of the incident when it hit the headlines. Two separate cases have been registered, one on the report of Nawaz Mussali against six people, including Ghaffar and the three jurors, while the other on the report of ‘S’ against Riaz and his sister-in-law.
Police have so far arrested seven people, Ghaffar and four jurors among them, in connection with the case lodged by Nawaz Mussali.
