Information Division to get Rs 1.38 billion

ISLAMABAD (APP) – Information and Broadcasting Division has been earmarked Rs 1.38 billion in Public Sector Developtnent Programme 2008-09 to implement 27 ongoing and new development schemes.

The most prominent ongoing project is establishment of 47 FM radio station for which government has allocated 187.23 million.

According to PSDP break-up, Rs 166 million has also been allocated for two 100 KW SW Transmitter and HF Aerial System at Karachi while Rs 123.41 million has been earmarked for APP’s Electronic News Gathering Service.

The other ongoing projects are installation of 100 KW/MW Transmitters at Chaman and Gwadar for which Rs.122.62 million has been allocated in the forthcoming PSDP.

Among the new schemes, the government plans to install 100 KW MWB Transmitter at Parachinar, FATA and has allocated Rs 122m for the purpose while Rs 50 has been allocated for replacement of three transmitters of 100 KW at Muzaffarabad, Hyderabad and Multan, and Rs 35m for Press Club, Islamabad.

The other ongoing projects include Balancing and Modernisation of Equipment, Expansion of Edu­cational TV Channel PTV (Phase 11), TV Centre Multan, Rebroadcast Stations at Kohat, Badin, Kharan, Bar Khan and Mian Channu.
