IHC CJ directs to make Pemra employees as party

ISLAMABAD: Hearing a case on illegal appointments in Pakistan Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra), Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Iqbal Hameedur Rehman has directed the petitioners to make all the illegal appointees a party to the case. Eleven Pemra employees, including Faisal Rehman, had challenged the appointments of 62 persons, praying to the court that these were made against the Pemra Ordinance 2002. The petitioners, in their application, have said that Pemra had advertised for 18 posts, including GM (Technical) and AGM (Non-Technical), on March 3, 2009, but later ineligible people were given jobs instead of promoting them (the petitioners) on the advertised posts as they had also applied against the same slots.
