Iftikhar directs to expedite work on establishment of TV channel
PESHAWAR — Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information and Public Relation Mian Iftikhar Hussain has directed the authorities concerned to expedite the work on the establishment of provincial television (TV) channel.
The minister was briefed by the representatives of the, short-listed bidders here on Tuesday.
The bidders while making ‘presentation before the minister highlighted various aspects of the project.
Expressing his views on this occasion, the minister said that in this era of media and communication it was imperative to establish more media outlets so that the masses of this very province could have means of entertainment and they could remain informed and educated.
He said the present government was well aware of the importance of media and truly believed in the concept of ‘media for the people.’
“The more we have media outlets, the more we can create awareness against social evils,” said the minister, I adding that the present government would establish more radio and TV channels so that the problems of local population can be duly highlighted and people educated.
He urged the authorities, concerned to accelerate work on the project.
He also directed that the task of feasibility study for the said TV channel should be awarded to the most deserving company/consultant on merit. Secretary Information Azmat Hanif Orakzai and Director Information, Shoaibuddin were also present on occasion.
