Human trafficking down 85 percent

ISLAMABAD:Human trafficking cases fell by over 85 percent at Islamabad internationalAirport in 2006, according to a report of the Federal Investigation Agenc (FIA). The FIA immigration cell arrested 231 passengers for carying illegal documents, stoped 1,270 people from going aborad on incomplete documents and detected 161 balcklisted passports in 2006.
Nine immigration officials were reprimanded for misconduct and 48 officials were rewarded with cash awards worth Rs 1 million for good performance.Thirty-eight capacity building lessons were arranged for the immigration cell.FIA Director General Tariq Pervez praised the performance of his staff and pledged to provide a better immigration service at the Islamabad International Airport.
