HRCP team meets NWFP governor
PESHAWAR (January 17 2009): A five member delegation, comprising office bearers of Human Rights Commission of Pakistan called on the NWFP Governor Owais Ahmed Ghani here on Friday. The delegation, led by the Chairperson of the Commission, Asma Jehangir was also comprised of its Vice Chairperson, Musarrat Hilali, I.A. Rehman, Secretary General and Kamran Arif, Council Member.
They discussed matters relating to the province and Fata as well as the problems being faced by the internally displaced persons. The Governor welcomed the guests and apprised them about the various measures that were being taken for betterment of the situation.
He stressed that in order to ensure long term stability, a massive socio-economic uplift and development plan was required both for NWFP and Fata. Later on the members of the delegation thanked the Governor for providing them the opportunity of meeting him.
