HRCP calls for release of labourers
LAHORE: The HRCP has called for the release of three labourers and two Coast Guard personnel believed to be in custody of an insurgent group in Balochistan.
In a statement issued here on Friday, the commission said that Baloch Liberation Front (BLF) had two Coast Guard personnel and three labourers in their custody. The commission called upon the group to release the men on humanitarian grounds.
The HRCP also called upon the BLF and other groups active in the province to spare the non-combatants and especially poor labourers who were trying to exist amidst violence and lawlessness in Balochistan.
The HRCP reiterated its call to the government to address the situation in the volatile province through political means and ensure that no state agent engaged in any human rights violation.
