Pakistan Press Foundation

Karachi: The All Hindu Rights Organisation held a seminar at Karachi Press Club on Sunday against the atrocities being meted out to the Hindu community in Sindh, particularly forced conversion after kidnapping.

Speaking on the occasion, Manohar Lal, Jay Parkash, Qamar Bhatti, Riaz Chandio and others said religious extremism was on the rise in the country.

They demanded that federal and provincial governments should address the problems being faced by the Hindu community in Sindh.

They also called for bringing an end to the kidnapping of Hindu girls and their forced conversion to Islam. The speakers said Sindhi Hindus were part of the province and no religion allowed violence against minorities.

Members of the Hindu community from Rahim Yar Khan, Khanpur, Bahawalpur and other areas of country also attended the seminar.

The leaders of the Hindu community regretted that the province’s minorities were forced to live in a constant state of fear due to the atmosphere of growing intolerance. They added that extremism had unfortunately made its way into Sindh, known as the land of Sufis who preached tolerance and peace.
