High speed Internet Exchange opened

KARACHI- Chairman, Pakistan Telecommunication Limited (PTCL), Akhtar Ahmed Bajwa, has said that PTCL is striving for provision of all possible modem day facilities so that Information Technology could get a boost in, the country.

He was speaking as chief guest while inaugurating a new High Speed Internet Exchange at Cantonment Telephone Exchange.

The Member (Technical) Nooruddin Baqai, DG (Operations) South, Irfan Ali Khan, General Managers Nafees Siddiqi, Akhtar Jameel, Z.A. Tunio, Saeed Ahmed and Project Director Hwai technologies and the exchange staff were also present on the occasion.

Akhtar Bajwa said that with this high speed Internet exchange, the, Internet providers will have the facility of speedy and large scale connections which would result in the best and fast service to Internet customers.

He thanked the Chinese Hwai company for their cooperation towards the completion of this exchange and said the Chinese assistance has enabled us provide best possible services of international standard in Pakistan.

Chairman PTCL expressed his satisfaction over the timely installation of the exchange which he said equals the European telecommunication standard whereby PTC could provide Public Switch Telephone Network (PSTN), Intelligent Network (IN), Integrated Services Digital Network, (ISDN). The exchange provides 304 lines of BRI, 100 lines of PRI and 20 lines of El.

Through this high speed Internet exchange, some 800,004 subscribers would have an access to Internet.
