Help from China in Information Technology (IT) sector sought
ISLAMABAD- China will consider setting up a software company and a computer assembling plant in Pakistan, the Chinese vice minister for foreign trade and economics, An Min, assured federal minister for science and technology, Prof Attaur Rahman, here.
Mr Rahman stressed the need for cooperation between the two countries in this area, adding that the projects would be useful for Central Asian and Middle Eastern markets.
He asked the visitors to identify the Chinese firms, which have expertise in information technology so that cooperation between the two sides could be pursued more actively. He said none of the three Chinese telecommunication firms operating in Pakistan specialized in software development.
The minister proposed a joint study for accelerated industrial development in Pakistan and also agreed that setting up of the software company and computer manufacturing plant was in the interest of both the countries.
