Hawkers, cable operators strongly protest action against Jang Group, Geo
PESHAWAR: Hawkers and cable operators have strongly protested against the incidents of setting on fire copies of The News and Jang and shutting of Geo telecasts in some areas.
Hawkers held protest rallies in some cities of Sindh and urged the government to desist from such actions that endangered their lives and livelihood. Central president of All Pakistan Cable Operators Association Malik Furqan has said that closure of Geo transmission in a few areas by a political group is vandalism. He said they condemn this strongly. He said the chief justice of Pakistan should take a suo moto notice of this situation.
Addressing a press conference at Peshawar Press Club, Malik Furqan said jobs of lakhs of people are associated with the Cable department. He said the closure of Geo by a political group was an attempt to render people jobless and make the media subservient. If the so called democratic government did not stop this policy the cable operators would take direct action, he warned.
