Govt agencies to initiate enquiry against fake journalists

THATTA: Various government agencies have initiated enquiry against fake press reporters engaged in yellow journalism and blackmailing tactics in rural Sindh. A drive to clean the profession of black sheep and vested interests.

There are several government servants, specially teachers, who have made fake press cards of various newspapers and agencies, said sources.

These persons do not perform their duties on the pretext of being press reporters at their respective jobs and often engage in blackmailing acts, they said.

According to reports, some persons get these cards from newspaper offices on the condition of selling a few copies of the respective newspaper. These so-called journalists try to gain monetary benefits from corrupt government officials and anti-social elements as they favour them in their stories.

According to sources, secret agencies have also started enquiry against newspapers, having very less circulation as they issue cards to vested interests on condition of getting advertisements in return.
