Government to streamline media policy
ISLAMABAD- Top official media managers decided at a meeting to further streamline the information policy of the government, an official said. The meeting was presided over by Maj-Gen Rashid Qureshi, director-general, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) and press secretary to the chief executive. The meeting continued for several hours. Information Secretary Syed Anwar Mahmood, Pakistan Television Managing Director Yousuf Baig Mirza, ISPR officials Col Saulat and Col Mansoor attended the meeting among others.
The official said the meeting decided to make optimum utilisation of the three state-run TV channels for the projection of government policies at the national and international level. The Pakistan Television (PTV) chief will address a press conference in a couple of days to make an announcement about formal launching of the News Channel, which has been in limbo for more than a year.
