‘Government taking steps for artists’ welfare’

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Minister for Information, Mian Iftikhar Hussain said that artists are great asset of the nation, but they are not given due status in the society, saying government is taking every possible steps for their welfare.

Speaking at the function held in the memory of late TV actor, and producer, Abdul Rauf Khalid on Sunday, he said that a artist, as entertainer, give happiness and joy through his performance.

But, he said that there is not equal treatment from the other side of the society, adding artists are facing enormous difficulties.

He paid rich tribute to Late Abdul Rauf, saying he had great qualities and was a well entertainer.

He added that people recognised the performance of the late artist due to his talent and unmatchable qualities.

He said Abdul Rauf, as producer, produced drama through which he conveyed a specific message for betterment of the society.

Khalid had represented the entire society, the minister added.

Iftikhar called for proper care and status to them in the society.

He said that most of the artists that contributed for the country are left in distress situation due to poor financial condition.

However, he added, government has taken all possible steps for welfare and development of artists in the province.
