Government plans body to grade IT institutions

LAHORE- The government has decided to set-up a “national testing service” in the country to test the standards of IT institutions, and provide a scale for comparative grading between the institutions.

This was stated by the Punjab Minister for Law Dr. Khalid Ranjha during the certificate distribution ceremony at a local computer institute.

He said the youth should be provided with the job-oriented IT education to enable them to excel in both local and foreign markets.

He said the National Council for Accreditation and Quality Assurance (NCAQA) being set-up by the federal education ministry would inspect IT institutions and accredit those who have adequate facility and infrastructure.

“The government will encourage students to enroll only in accredited institutions so that certain basic standards could be ensured,” he said adding that a multidimensional strategy has been evolved to overcome the deficiency in trained human resources.
