Global Image on terrorism to be improved: Jabbar

LAHORE- The government is planning to improve Pakistan’s global image on “terrorism” or the “sponsoring of terrorist groups”, Adviser to Chief Executive on Information and key member of government’s media team Javed Jabbar said.

While speaking at a lunch hosted here for newsmen and columnists. Punjab Minister for Information Shafqat Mehmood also attended the gathering.

The adviser pointed out that at present the resources, required to present a more positive picture of Pakistan on the global scene, were extremely limited, but an effort was being made to overcome this problem.

He emphasized that once the efforts to expand electronic media channels in the country materialized, Pakistan would be better placed to battle the propaganda produced by the Indian channels.

Jabbar, however, pointed out that Pakistan had handled the recent hijacking drama, involving an Indian airlines passenger plane, successfully and warded off the Indian assault convincingly.

Adviser Javed Jabbar also spoke of efforts to introduce a viable Freedom of Information Act, which, once in place, will make governance more transparent.
