Ghias Siddiqui passes away

KARACHI, FEBRUARY 25:Ghias Ahmed Siddiqui, a senior journalist, died here on Wednesday. He had been admitted to a local hospital for the last 20 days. He was 76.

Mr. Siddiqui will be buried in the Defence Housing Society Authority graveyard after Zuhar prayers on Thursday. His funeral procession will start from his residence (42, lane 26, Phase VII at 12:30 p.m., and his funeral prayers will be held at Al-Rehman Mosque, Bahria, Phase IV.

He leaves behind three sons and two daughters.

Ghias Siddiqui born 1922, started his career in 1943 with Dawn in Delhi. When Dawn started its publication from Karachi he rejoined it and retired in 1986.

He was the youngest of the three brothers. His elder brother Zamir Siddiqui was editor of Daily News, Karachi, and retired as AP correspondent in Karachi. His eldest brother Niaz Ahmed Siddiqui, who was a lecturer in Aligarh Muslim University, worked with Sindh Observer before joining the foreign office.
