ISLAMABAD: The Geo TV owners and management have withdrawn the petition from Supreme Court (SC) seeking hearing of all the cases registered against it across the country at one place and the court has disposed of the matter.

The court observed that the SC had no powers to club the cases and such powers rested with the high courts.Justice Nasirul Mulk remarked, “The counsels for Geo TV should leave talking about law and constitution of India. We are Pakistanis. Therefore, they should talk of Pakistani law and constitution.

“The high court is your proper forum. You should approach it. If we hear you, we will have to hear the petitioners who have registered different cases in the country. We cannot do so.” Justice Jawwad S Khawaja remarked, “There are 27 states in India. May be orders have been issued to club the cases. But we have four provinces and what problem lies here. Such cases of the petitioners are of paramount importance. If investigations are carried out, the matters will open.”

A three-member SC bench took up the case for hearing on Wednesday.Akram Sheikh said, “We are living in 2014 but 1985 law is also being used. Wisdom is inheritance of a Momin. It should be taken where it is available.”

Justice Nasirul Mulk remarked, “Give your arguments to the extent of your case and not to go hither and thither.”Akram Sheikh said, “Five different investigators will conduct investigation of the cases. Their investigations can differ.”
