Geo TV’s senior executive producer Ameer Imam passes away

KARACHI: Pakistan’s leading broadcaster and senior executive producer and one of the founding members of Geo TV, Syed Amir Imam, passed away on Wednesday evening at the age of 75. He, till the last breath, served major part of his life in the television industry.

Syed Amir Imam was born in Lucknow in 1936 and, after Partition, came to Pakistan with his family. He also worked in PTV as general manager at four stations. Besides so many programmes, ‘Intizar Farmaiey’ and ‘Hello, Hello’ were the famous drama serials to his credit.

In 1996, after retirement from the PTV, he came to private production. Syed Amir Imam was one of the founding members of Geo TV and until the last day of his life, he remained associated with Geo. He left behind a widow and two sons to mourn.

His Namaz-e-Janaza will be held today (Thursday) after Zuhr prayer in Mosque Khairul Amal Ancholi, Federal B Area, Karachi.
