Geo TV News Team members injured in police batten charge
KARACHI: The news team of GEO TV channel came under attack when police used batons and fired tear gas shells indiscriminately to disperse violent demonstrators in Landhi area Monday evening who were protesting against non registration of a case relating to the killing of two brothers during a robbery.
According to Geo TV, some members of the channel’s news team were injured.
When contacted, the Karachi CCPO assured the channel that he would take stern action against those responsible for assaulting the channel’s news coverage staff.
Sindh Home Minister Zulfiqar Mirza told Geo that he had already directed the CCPO to investigate the matter and bring those responsible to book. He said he had also ordered the suspension of policemen responsible for batten charging the journalists.
