Friday Youm-e-Dua for Hamid Mir

ISLAMABAD: All Pakistan Newspaper Employees Confederation (Apnec), Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) and Council of Pakistan Press Clubs (CPPC) have announced to observe Youm-e-Dua across the country on Friday to pray for the recovery of renowned journalist and Geo News anchorperson Hamid Mir.

In a joint statement, Apnec Chairman Shafiuddin Ashraf and Secretary Ikraam Bukhari, PFUJ President Afzal Butt and Secretary Khursheed Abbasi, and CPPC Convener Arshad Ansari have declared that prayers will be held in media organisations, union offices and press clubs countrywide for Hamid Mir’s well-being and quick recovery of his health.

This announcement has been made after meeting Hamid Mir, considering his medical reports and analysing the nature of wounds. In the statement released here on Wednesday, the leaders of journalist fraternity said that Hamid Mir’s health was not satisfactory and he needed prayers from his well-wishers.

Therefore, members of respective press clubs and media workers have been directed to ensure massive participation in the ceremonies to mark ‘Youm-e-Dua’ and pray for Hamid Mir’s health.
