Fourth death anniversary of Swat journalist observed

MINGORA: The fourth death anniversary of Musa Khankhel was observed at the Swat Press Club on Monday.

Unidentified persons killed Musa Khankhel, correspondent of The News and Geo News, on February 18, 2009 in Matta tehsil of Swat district where he had gone to cover the story about the rally of Tanzim Nifaz-e-Shariat-e-Muhammadi chief Maulana Sufi Muhammad.

DC Kamran Rehman was the chief guest, while Assistant Director Information Sarwar Khattak, spokesman for Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Colonel Zeeshan and president Darul Qaza Bar Abdul Haleem also spoke on the occasion.

The speakers paid tributes to Musa Khankhel for highlighting critical issues when the militants held sway in the scenic valley. They said that heroes like Musa Khankhel had played frontline role in defeating the forces of darkness. Kamran Rehman said he would remind the Prime Minister Secretariat about the allotment of a residential plot to the bereaved family.
